soulciti was founded in 1998 as a grass-roots Austin phenomenon to disseminate general news and entertainment information of interest to, and pertaining to, the African American population in Austin, Tx. soulciti began as a text-based email list-serv (called a Distro) that is sent out every Thursday.

In response to our reader’s feedback and availability of web technologies, soulciti continues to evolve into a full-featured web property and news source, still supported by html and text-based email Distros. Our list of subscribers is north of 12,000 and growing. soulciti is a wholly-owned subsidiary of griotmedia.

Dr. Moe Anderson :: Website Design

Dr. Monica “Moe” Anderson is a versatile journalist, author, motivational speaker, and Doctor of Dental Surgery. She has published two non-fiction books: Black English Vernacular and Mom, Are We There Yet?

Since 1996, she has been a freelance, weekly columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Her column has appeared in various newspapers across the country including: the Seattle Times, the San Jose Mercury News, the Courier-Journal of Louisville, KY, and the Marshall News Messenger. In 1999, the staff of the Fort Worth Weekly named her as the “Best Columnist” in Tarrant County.

The Austin Association of Black Communicators was founded March 1, 1986 as an affiliate of the National Association of Black Journalist. They are comprised of black professionals from area newspapers, radio, magazines, television stations, public relations and advertising firms, communication and journalism instructors, free-lance journalists, and those in media organizations who disseminate news.

Austin Striders Track Club :: Benefit Fundraiser
The Austin Striders Track Club was founded in 1978 as a way to help Austin-area youngsters obtain a better opportunity for college level scholarships. The Austin Striders provide youth the training and opportunity for participation in state, regional and national track meets that might otherwise be out of reach.

Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church :: Logo Design
Since April of 2000, Greater Mt. Zion (GMZ) has been under the direction of Austin's youngest Pastor, Gaylon C. Clark. Pastor Clark comes to Austin from Dallas. Recognizing that society has changed, Pastor Clark is on a mission to reinvent GMZ as a church that is relevant to today's fast paced society.

Heritage Council :: Identity Package + Website Design + Event Production
In June of 1995, the Heritage Council was officially formed as a 501(c)3 to oversee planning of Austin's Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. In it's 8th year of existence, the celebration continues to grow each year and has featured national speakers such as Maya Angelou, James Earl Jones, Tavis Smiley, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, UNCF President William Gray, III and NAACP Executive Director Kweisi Mfume.

Huston-Tillotson College :: Alumni Magazine Design + 2000 Extravaganza Creative
Celebrating its 125th year of existence, Huston-Tillotson College is an independent, liberal arts, church-related, historically black institution located on a 23 acre tree-lined campus near downtown Austin. The College is affiliated with The United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund (The College Fund).

Pro Arts Collective :: Website Design + Print Design + Fundraising + Event Production
Pro Arts Collective produces, promotes and provides opportunities in the Arts for African Americans in Central Texas. Focusing on works that uniquely express and depict the experience of African Americans, ProArts has produced more than 70 stage productions, festivals, concerts, music and comedy revues, art and photo exhibits, seminars, classes and workshops.

We also partnered with Pro Arts to produce a Feb 2004 appearance of Russell Simmon's Def Poetry Jam, as well as creating an online calendar chronicling Black History Month events happening in Austin, and a one-woman play honoring the late actress, poet, trailblazer and activist — Beah Richards.
